The Bush Legacy

Tonight on Countdown, Keith Olbermann reported on Bush's last 8 years in 8 minutes, and even though it's widely accepted that Bush has been a terrible President, I was still shocked to realize just how much has been lost, destroyed, and eliminated during his presidency.

It's difficult to see how anyone can say that History will judge Bush kindly, given that the choices and decisions that George W. Bush has undertaken has seriously undermined the stability and security of our country.

So as I write my 100th blog post, I am finally happy to say good-bye to George W. Bush, and I eagerly await the inauguration of a calm, thoughtful, commanding, intelligent, just, rational, and compassionate President.
Here is one last comparison between the different styles of the two Presidents:

This is amuzing to me on so many different levels. Does Olberman's opinion count if no one watches? If his ideas were actually pertinent in the world, don't you think he would be higher than last in the ratings book for cable "news" programs? Amuzing. I like that word.

Your mistake is that you are making the argument that the validity of one's opinion is correlated to ratings. Consider Rush Limbaugh, whose ratings are supported by anti-intellectual, right-wing Americans, who wouldn't recognize truth, but it doesn't make anything out of Limbaugh's mouth pertinent or valid.

Your mistake is assuming I am correlating anyone's ratings to validity of arguments. It was tongue-in-cheek. Amuzing. And why do all comments need to be approved by the blog author?

I don't think there is any confusion to your statement:

"Does Olberman's opinion count if no one watches? If his ideas were actually pertinent in the world, don't you think he would be higher than last in the ratings book for cable "news" programs?"

If that was tongue in cheek humor, then all I can say is that you didn't succeed to convey your intent.

With regards to the moderation, I always publish other people's comments, regardless of whether or not I agree.

While you may find the moderation annoying, there is a good reason. Moderation is needed because there are too many people out there without any common sense. Because of their lack of judgment, I refuse to allow any comments on my blog, where people will use any profanity, offensive language, or threatening comments. From my perspective, those types of comments do not add any value to any meaningful debate or discussion.
